Rebecca's Shower

Last Sunday I co-hosted a Bridal Shower for my husbands Best-friends Fiance - Well, she's my friend too, but I wanted to get the "How I know this California Girl" out there.
I spent most of Last weeks preparing for the Shower.  I intended to sew the Bride an apron to match the pink and black themed cleaning gift I had assembled - But I never got around to it.  I couldn't quite figure out how to get to the paper store I needed to go to to get the supplies I needed until Last Thursday - and when I finally did get the supplies - My Cat - Tralfaz - pee'd all over the bag.
So, the party is over now, it went really well.  Andrew and I made a pretty neat game up called "Give Me Some Sugar Baby."  It was basically a rendition of pin the tail on the Donkey where guest's try to pin a kiss onto the groom.
The party was fun, be it definitely needed some cocktails.  From here on out I will have alcohol of some sort at all parties I host (and, I should say, That I usually do - but I wasn't in charge of food for this one).

January 12th, 2010

Dear Martha-
Yesterday was a very productive day.  After dropping Eleanor off at school (before which I actually took a shower!!!!) Vincent and I went to Fleet Farm to buy a DVD player.  Yes, we went to a hunters haven for an electronic device.  Why?  Andrew said they had a dvd player for $25, and ours broke the night of the 11th.  We cannot afford a fancy dvd player from best buy.  When we were walking into the store I noticed a sign that read, "Please do not bring your deer hides into the store, bring them around back."  I think that I could write an entire paragraph about Fleet Farm, but I have limited time.
Anyways, after Fleet Farm Vincent and I went to my fathers house where I trimmed my grandmothers toenails.  Grandma Brown is 95 and I visit her about every 3 weeks to clips her toenails.  Once while we were out for lunch I outlined her hand on a place mat and then outlined my hand and each of my kids hands.  I had great plans with this project.  I wanted to cut the hands out of tissue paper and make a family hand collage.  Unfortunately, like a lot of the little things in my life - I lost the placemat with the hands outlined on it.  I want to do this again sometime and actually complete the project.
Jessica and Claire met us at my dads and then went to Mcdonalds play land with us.  We were there for 2 hours and all Vincent ate was his Chocolate Milk.  He ate 4 of my left over chicken nuggets at home at 4:20pm.  Eleanor ate his uneaten cheeseburger at that time.  This made preparing dinner unneccessary.  Andrew heated up leftovers for himself and I ate toast.
After our evening meals Eleanor and I worked on making folders for her Girl Scout Cookie sales.  She will begin selling cookies on Saturday.  We are planning to visit several of the group homes in my company and leaving order forms for my co-workers to consider when they are at work.  This year our troop will be donating cookies to Wingspan too - so my co-workers have the options of buying cookies for their group homes too!
After that project Eleanor and I went to Walgreens to pick up pictures of her cousins.  She made a scrapbook page of her cousins to bring to show and tell.
At the end of the evening I put Eleanors hair into braids so it would be crimped in the morning.  My GS leader called me and talked to me for quite a bit and then Andrew and I watched the Bourne Identity.

What's been going on....

Today is the first day of Rachaelmade.  I piggybacked this blog onto an attempt at a blog from 2007 - after my son was born.  Rachaelmade is what I call the things that I make to sell.  Since these days I have not been selling anything, most of the things that I create have not been labeled.  I primarily make items to put into creative competitions.  Right now it is County and State Fair time.  Eleanor and I just won oodeles of fun ribbons at the Dakota County Fair!  I also like to submit my creations for publication.  Last year I submitted two patterns into a new book called One Yard Wonders and they were accepted!  One Yard Wonders is available for pre-order at Amazon.com and will be available in stores this fall.
I also submitted s stuffy into a new periodical called STUFFED.
These days i have put my ambition to "sell" items on hold and am focusing just on creating.

Hello kiddo blogworld!
Today was the first day of the Dakota County fair and I (Eleanor) won some real groovy blue ribbons (as well as some red and white ones) for my artwork exhibited in the pre-school catagories! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me - and Vincent is too, he told me all about it while he pulled my hair and drooled all over me at the park afterwards. We went for a picnic lunch at Mounds Park with Auntie Peggy, Big Jim (Jimmy Ross), Jessica and Lil' Claire Bear. Tomarrow my good friend Linnea is spending the night - her mommy had a baby boy last week and guess what she named him???? VINCENT! Just like my new baby! Linnea was born a few weeks before me and my mommy met her in the new parent connection ECFE class offered at the hospital.
